The Story Behind Journey of a Sister 📖 👀

Leading up to the launch of the SEQUEL, I’ll share why I wrote Journey of a Sister, and take you on a behind-the-scenes walk through each ‘Year’ of the story! 👣

Are you ready?

In the 90’s while still a Christian, I could hear from God. During one of my quiet times sitting in the Silence, I asked what my purpose was, and was told ‘To spread LOVE through Creativity!’

But I hadn’t used my natural God-given talents of writing and art since leaving college 15 years previously. Unbeknown to me, subconsciously I didn’t believe I could earn a living from writing poetry and art.

I started working with the book ‘The Artist’s Way‘ by Julia Cameron, which taught me to get out of the way, and think of myself as a channel for the Great Creator to create through.

One of the Affirmations I worked with from the book was “I am a channel for the Great Creator to create through.” It took a few years, but in 2001 I started channelling! 📖✍🏾🎨🖌

The first poems I ever wrote were beautiful, loving, messages that I dictated from the ‘Poet in the Sky’. One of them, titled “Look to Me!” now features in Year One, listen to it FREE!

2001 was the year my ‘Awakening’ began, triggered by meeting my Twin Soul. The way Suzanne and Charles meet in the story is exactly how we met – it felt like we were caught in a time warp!

It was so weird, neither of us brought it up, until I started writing my novel 9 years later. I emailed him the first chapter; he called me early the following morning to tell me his version of what happened that day – that’s when I realized he’d had a similar experience to me!

He told me to include his account in the story, but not in Year One, where mine was. (It’s in Year Five: ‘Flashback’).

Twin Souls meet to help raise the Collective Consciousness; we fulfilled our Twin Soul mission through this book. Our Twinship was a rollercoaster ride filled with highs and lows – I’m sure the letter I channelled to God was written during one of my lows!

The Rebellion

A few months after we met, I was forced to break up with my Twin Soul. I started hearing the ‘Voice of God’ commanding me to break up with him. It was urgent, forceful, not like the voice of God I knew at all. But back then I didn’t know about Voice of God technology, so I went along with it. I spent the next 7 months mourning the death of my relationship. During our first Separation, I woke up one morning to find I’d written a fearless letter to my Creator, asking all the QUESTions my church couldn’t answer. I ended it by asking for “the Truth!”

It was so articulate, you’d think I spent hours, or even days working on it! 💭

The strange thing is, I had no recollection of actually putting pen to paper; I knew I’d written it, but I didn’t know how. (I discovered later on in this backstory).

I titled my letter ‘The Rebellion‘ and uploaded it to MySpace, saying I was going to be like a modern-day Moses, sent to free my people from mental slavery!

My Inspiration Behind Writing The Book 📖 ✍🏾

In 2010 I watched the film ‘Sankofa‘. It had a profound effect on me, and for the first time I acknowledged that as the descendant of an enslaved African, I was still suffering the after-effects of the trauma my ancestors had suffered. 🧬

Not only that, I could see the effects of Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome in my community; we lacked UNITY, many of our women were left unprotected and had become ‘independent’, raising their children alone. Many of our men were absent fathers and had abandoned their own women.

Our relationships were suffering, and the religions that had been passed down to us from the Plantations kept us in mental slavery; docile, humble and weak, relying on something external to save us.

I cried out “What can I do to help my people heal?”

The following morning while still highly emotional, I got up, went straight to my home studio and recorded ‘We Belong Together‘ – I channelled it with my eyes closed, and transcribed the words after:

First Edition

Not long after, I started writing the First Edition, which I was inspired to title ‘Single, Spiritual…AND Sexual!’

Brilliant title, right? I’ll explain later why I changed it!

The process of writing this story was deeply spiritual; I would simply go to sleep around 8pm (it was winter), wake up around 4am, and channel for two hours; I didn’t have to think about what I was writing. After 4 months I’d written 46,000 words, which made up the beautiful storyline!

At this point, I was getting visions and downloads naturally; I was also inspired to use my artwork and poetry to illustrate the story. 🎨🖌

I not only wrote the story, I also formatted the inside of the book myself, and designed the cover.

When I was recording the audiobook of Year One (Part 1), for some reason I missed out a very important part; “Why do I have to wait until I die to go to Heaven? Why can’t I live in HEAVEN on EARTH?

This is the foundation of the story, and what I’m seeking to do now; co-create HEAVEN on EARTH with my Tribe! How did I miss it out? 🤔
