Imagine growing up never receiving any hugs or kisses, or being told “I love you”.
You never saw your parents display any kind of love or affection towards each other.
As a young child, the lack of love within your home may have caused you to supress your true emotions, to lack the ability give or receive love in a healthy manner, and to develop a healthy relationship with your Self.
As you grow up, you may seek love outside of the home in the form of promiscuity, gang life, drug dependency, or other self-harming ways.
You may have even been raised in a religious environment that spoke of God’s unconditional Love, yet still, you failed to experience this kind of love from your parents, because they themselves didn’t experience it.
You don’t realize that the ROOT CAUSE of your issues as an adult is a Self Love Deficit. You weren’t taught how to love yourself, let alone how to love others.
You were taught to put others first, to put God first, and to put your own needs last. So slowly, your cup became empty as you poured into other people’s lives, without giving to yourself.
If (like myself) you can identify with the above story, the journey to Self Love may be a long and tedious one. You’re going to have to fill your meter from a Self Love Deficit, to filling your Self with Love. Where would you say you are right now on that meter?
True Love is unconditional.
Do you love yourself unconditionally? If not, how can you expect others to? When you give unconditional love to yourself, it will be reflected back to you.
I wish I’d known this years ago. Instead, I hated myself; I hated my looks, I hated my hair, I hated my skin, I hated everything about me (apart from my teeth).
But I loved God.
How can I say I loved God when I didn’t love myself?
I wasn’t taught to recognize God within, I was taught to think of God as being outside of myself.
To truly put God first, is to recognize God within. When I say ‘God’, I’m referring to the Source of Love.
Yes, your Source of Love is within.
Come with me on a journey of Self discovery, the Journey to Self Love!
From 1st September I’ll be starting The 30 Day Self❤Love Challenge, and I’d LOVE you to join me!
To prepare, you will need;
▪A hand mirror
▪A rose quartz crystal
▪A notebook/journal/recording device
For 30 days, we will perform 2 simple daily tasks:
1) When you wake up and before you go to bed, look in the mirror and tell yourself “I LOVE YOU”. This may feel uncomfortable at first, but the more you do it, the easier it will get.
2) Pour some water in a glass, put your love intention into it and say “I LOVE YOU” into the water to program it before drinking it. This is based on Dr Emoto’s water experiment, and that we are made up of 70% water. (See www.journeyofasister.com/self-love-retreat for link to video)
At the end of each week, we will do a Self care ritual that will help build Self Love. Can you imagine how the more people all over the world doing The 30 Day Self❤Love Challenge will help raise the Love frequency on the planet?
BE PART OF THE MOVEMENT!
You can either do The 30 Day Self❤Love Challenge on your own, with a friend or partner, or a group of friends – this is for men too!
To take part, email me: firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, and what you hope to achieve from doing The 30 Day Self❤Love Challenge! (Please also name anyone doing the challenge with you, if possible). If you’d like to join the WhatsApp group for daily support, state so in your email.
New Radio Talk Show Friday 24th August 9-11pm
This Friday, I’m starting a new talk show on UJR talk radio called ‘Black Sex & Spirituality’ where we will have ‘Big People Talk’ around issues affecting Black relationships! My co-host, Tony will be speaking on behalf of the brothers, and you’re welcome to call/text into the studio on 0203 432 1333, or watch the Facebook Live! (Add me on Facebook: Cezanne Taharqa). You’ll also be able to call in with your questions and viewpoints using Facebook Messenger’s calling app if you’re outside the UK. Don’t miss this hot discussion!
This Friday the topic is “I Need a MAN!” where we will discuss why there are so many single Black women, and the challenges we sisters face in finding and choosing an ideal partner. The brothers will have the opportunity to explain why they may be put off from dating or marrying a sister. Tune in, call in and take part in the discussions!
The following Friday, the tables will be turned and the brothers will have the opportunity to say what they need in a relationship – the sisters will be required to respond! Don’t miss it!
I look forward to you joining me on this new journey; the show will carry on while I’m in the Gambia, where we will also be looking at the difference between relationships between African men and women, and relationships between people raised in Europe who marry Africans.
Let’s heal together!
