What is YOUR Subconscious Programming? (Part 3)

Ok, let’s use another metaphor; think of your subconscious mind as a computer; a computer runs on a PROGRAM, or on various programs.  Until it’s programmed, it can do nothing.  A young child’s mind is like an un-programmed computer.

While I was going through the process of figuring out my mind in order to get it to work properly, I discovered that children go through what’s known as the ‘imprint period’, between the ages of 0-7.  Whatever they’re told repeatedly during this period becomes their subconscious programming. This subconscious programming is very difficult to change after the imprint period.  That’s why Frederick Douglas said “It’s much easier to raise strong children, than to mend broken adults”, and why the bible says “Train up a child in the way it should go, and when it is old, it will not depart from it”.  These are two examples of how deep this programming goes.

Now what if you were programmed for failure, like I was?

My programming at home was ‘You’re ugly, you’re worthless, you’re good-for-nothing, you don’t deserve it (whatever I wanted), and ‘not good enough’ (anything that I did)’.  Then on top of that I went to church every week where I was programmed to beLIEve I was born in sin,  was a was a poor, wretched sinner, was unworthy, and that I needed to be washed white as snow by a white savior in order to feel good about myself.  I’m not saying this to name or shame anyone, I’m simply sharing what I found when I dug deep into my subconscious mind, to get to the ROOT CAUSE of my issues.  So by the time I was in my early twenties, I had low self-esteem, didn’t believe in myself or my God-given talents, was a blocked writer and artist, suffered from severe bouts of depression, had mental breakdowns, and was even suicidal; I didn’t think my life was worth living.  Obviously I didn’t kill myself, but I thought about it enough times!

After the birth of my second sun, I knew I had to fix up; it wasn’t just my life at stake anymore, I had two little people to think about as well.  So I started the process of Self-healing.  This was back in the 90’s.  At the time, Anthony Robbins was all the rage on the Self-development scene; I read his books, listened to his CD’s, and even attended one of his seminars. I also read lots of other Self-development books like ‘The Magic of Thinking Big’ by David J. Schwartz,  ‘As a Man Thinketh’ by James Allen, ‘Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway’ by Susan Jeffers, and ‘The Artist’s Way’ by Julia Cameron.  They all began to show me the creative power of my mind.  But it was in 2007 when ‘The Secret‘ had exploded on the scene, that I really began to take control of my thoughts.  At the time I was homeless; I’d sent my 3 suns to live with their fathers, and was at my lowest point ever. Yet this was my biggest opportunity to change my life for GOOD.  I started learning how to meditate, and as a result, I unblocked as a writer and artist, painted 11 paintings, published three books, and wrote and recorded over 30 poems, all of which were creative expressions of what I was learning at the time – the creative power of my  mind.  But something else extraordinary began to happen; I began to access my super-conscious mind.

What is your super-conscious mind, and how do you access it?

I would say that your super-conscious mind is the part of you that’s connected to your Source.  You can only access your super-conscious mind through your sub-conscious mind.  Think of it like this:

Your conscious mind is on ground level, your sub-conscious mind is underground, and your super-conscious mind is way up in the skies…. What does this remind you of?  You’re right, a tick!  (Maybe Nike knows something we don’t – well, we do now!)  I didn’t learn this from anywhere, it came to me while I was writing this ARTicle,  I was like, WOW!  But where did this idea come from?  My super-conscious mind.  I have a tendency to auto-write, which means, I’m not really thinking about what I’m writing – I’m not consciously making it up, I simply allow it to come through me; much like how this ARTicle was written (It was originally meant to be a speech).  I also wrote 46,000 words of my Self-help novel ‘Journey of a Sister’ that way, and they formed the most beautiful story-line!  I didn’t sit down and construct the beginning, middle and end, like they teach you to do in Creative Writing classes, I let the story unfold by itself.  These are examples of how I use my super-conscious mind. So in order to access your super-conscious mind, you need to go down into your sub-conscious mind, which means your conscious mind needs to be put to rest.  This is the purpose of meditation, or relaxation.  If your mind is constantly on the go, you won’t be able to access your super-conscious mind.  If you allow yourself to be distracted by the tv, radio, phone calls, internet etc, you won’t be able to access your super-conscious mind.  Let me give you another example: One day I was lying on the sofa in a state of deep relaxation.  I wasn’t meditating, I was listening to one of my favourite indie groups, Fertile Ground. As I listened to their track (also called ‘Fertile Ground’) with my eyes closed, I was drifting in between sleep and consciousness – when all of a sudden this image just flashed in my mind:

It was only for a split second, but it was as if it left an impression on my mind, because I was able to get up and draw all the details. Now, I know this image didn’t come from ME, because I wasn’t even able to relate to it at first!  It took around 3 months for me to get around to painting it, because I found her big belly a bit off-putting; I certainly wasn’t feeling broody, and I’m not keen on the idea of a ‘white wedding’ either.  Yet ‘Love Bump‘ now illustrates Year 11 of ‘Journey of a Sister‘!

I didn’t think up the whole composition, so where did it come from?  I had accessed the Universal Mind (where all ideas reside) through my super-conscious mind, because my conscious mind was laid to rest.  I was drifting in and out of sleep, so my sub-conscious mind was dominant, and somehow, I had connected with my super-conscious (probably with the aid of the music I was listening to).

Now the title of this blog series is ‘Use Your Subconscious Mind to Create the Life YOU Choose’.  I had set an intention long before doing my paintings, writing my books, or recording my poetry, to buy my house with cash.  Once I set the intention, I began to be in-spired and to attract everything I needed to help me reach my goal.  It didn’t happen overnight…I’ve been at this for over 15 years.

Yes, there’s a process.

So let’s get back to the metaphor of the mind being a garden; there are different types of seeds you can plant, some take longer to blossom and bloom than others – the process doesn’t happen overnight – sometimes I wondered if it even really worked at all!  But each time I questioned the process, I was reminded that I didn’t plant a flower, I’d planted a TREE.

Most people would have given up by now, but what else could I do? Go and get a 9-5 job? That would never help me reach my goal!  Go back to uni and get a degree in creative writing or art? I’ve always dropped out of classes because they stifled my free-spirited way of creating.

I just had to trust the process….

In the last part of this series, I’m going to share with you how I re-program my subconscious mind for success, and how you can more easily do the same,  click here to read it!

Use Your Subconscious Mind to Create the Life YOU Choose! (Part 1)

Have you ever heard the saying that we only use 5% or 10% maximum of our brain power?  Do you believe it?  Well it’s not true, it’s that consciously we only use up to 10%  – the rest is the domain of our sub-conscious mind.

So how did I, Cezanne, a simple Artist, Poetess and Author come to learn about the power of our subconscious mind?

I stumbled upon this information because I had to figure out what was going on in my OWN mind.  I mean, I was multi-talented, but was failing at everything I put my hands to; I just seemed to keep sabotaging my success in my career, relationships, family, money – my whole life was a mess!  So I needed to study the mind in order to fix mine, and I had no idea that it would take me on such a beautiful journey, which I’m going to take YOU on now…

So let me start by explaining what the sub-conscious mind is, and how it relates to the conscious mind, and the super-conscious mind.  Are you ready?  Okay, use your imagination to picture an iceberg…there are two parts to this iceberg; the smaller part is above sea level; however the majority of the iceberg is underwater. The part you can see above water represents your conscious mind, and the majority of the iceberg which is underwater represents your sub-conscious mind. The word sub relates to being ‘under’, like submerged, submarine and sub-conscious.  Therefore your sub-conscious is the part of your mind that is ‘under’ – it’s unseen.  Your conscious mind is on the surface, that’s the part of your mind that you and everyone else relates to.  But your subconscious mind is the bigger part of the iceberg – the other 90%.  See?

Another metaphor I like to use when referring to the subconscious mind is of it being underground; your thoughts are the seeds, your conscious mind is the gardener planting the seeds, and your subconscious mind is the fertile soil that the seeds are planted into.  My painting ‘Black Orchid’ illustrates this perfectly:

The black background represents the dark soil of the subconscious mind.  Her thought-seeds are being planted into the fertile soil, which then goes through various stages of germination and budding, until eventually it reaches full bloom.  She looks happy, so she must be planting positive thought-seeds in the garden of her mind. The affirmation for this painting is “I am blossoming!” which also means “I am prospering!”

Now here’s the catch; whether your thoughts are POSITIVE or NEGATIVE, they still go through this same process.   So are you planting positive thought-seeds, or negative thought-weeds in the garden of your mind?

You can choose whether to grow flowers, or to grow weeds, or like most gardens, they can both grow side by side.  Your job as the gardener is to consciously uproot negative thought-weeds and replace them with positive thought-seeds, in order to keep the garden of your mind well cultivated.  Because whatever’s growing in your subconscious mind is going to blossom at some point, for all around you to see…

Watch my video-poem ‘Fertile Soil‘ to get a better ‘inner-standing’ of this process, which I wrote and recorded in 2009 when I was learning how to uproot my negative thought-weeds and replace them with positive thought-seeds:

In Part Two, I’ll explain why it’s important to guard your subconscious mind, and how to guard your subconscious mind, click here to read it!

Review of last Sunday’s Breathology Workshop!

Last Sunday I had organised for Rev Dawnecia Palmer to come from Bristol to London to share some of what she teaches in her Universecity in the UK and USA on Breathology.

I could tell from some of the attendees faces, that they were challenged by her long, blonde wig/weave, as I had been when I first met her!  If you’ve read my Self-help novel ‘Journey of a Sister’, there’s a part which says ‘the worst case of Self-identity crisis had to be seeing my sisters wearing a long, blonde weave’.

Fortunately, I’ve evolved since writing the book three years ago – besides, the hair was synthetic, not human!

Rev. Dawnecia has such a strong sense of Self, more than many women I know who wear our hair natural!  (I’m including myself!) If I had allowed her hair to deter me from developing a relationship with her, I would have missed out on the opportunity to get to know this extraordinary woman!  The lesson for me was to look past the flesh, and look at the soul.

Here’s a short clip from the workshop:

Here’s the feedback we received:

“An experience in Ascension. Beautiful and engaging.”

“Really good, affirmed some of the things I’ve been learning from Spirit and didn’t realize where it was coming from.  Now I know.”

“I found it uplifting and it touched certain areas of my inner core.  I came with a headache and left without it. I am magnificent.”

“I have more of an awareness of my magnificence.  I will definitely be more aware of conscious breathing as opposed to taking breathing for granted. I feel more connected to Source as I realise breath comes from Source and if it’s in me then life, love, God is in me!!”

“Very thought provoking was of how I connect to my inner Self through my breath.  Many thanks.”

“Empowering experience to be among women learning an amazing message; powerful exercise; thinking through the breath.”

“Great vibration, nice overstanding, beautiful delivery.”

“Brilliant workshop, very informative.”

“I really enjoyed learning about what the soul is, and breathology. The Rev was always positive.  I will add breathing exercises in my meditation.”

“The workshop was amazing and informative.  It is a reminder of how to stay aware and to continue to be awesome.”

“Stimulating, with lots of practical tasks, fab! How to keep focused as a soul?”

“Thank you for sharing your experience. I am so excited to learn that all have known somewhere deep inside is being expressed, and I can learn more about myself and who I am through my breath.  You are a gift, thank you.  I cannot wait to learn more.  Your insight into who Jesus really is/was was beautifully expressed.”

“It was very useful, would like more indepth teaching. Really enjoyed it.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed it, came away with lots of pearls of wisdom.  Reverend Palmer was magnificent and helped fortify a lot of my own philosophy regarding breath and spirituality. I am really interested in the course…”

“One of the best workshops I’ve attended this year!”

“Attending the workshop was quite inspiring having had Rev Palmer explain the meaning of Awakening Magnificence and the many aspects through the art of breathology, was like a new beginning..”

“It was magnificent!”

Rev. Dawnecia is a pioneer in Breathology and Breathomics the Science of Soulification™.  She is also co-founder of The Magnificent Way™ a principle for wholeness and wellbeing. She is the visionary/Principal of Life Universecity LC and Soul Clinic focusing on Soul Health Education, consciousness transformation for self-empowerment and lifelong personal development.

At least two women began calling her ‘Divine’ after the workshop, but aren’t we all Divine? If you don’t believe that about your Self then you need to do her course!  If enough people sign up (minimum 10), Rev Dawnecia will be willing to travel to London once a month to teach the classes.

I gave my personal testimony at the workshop of how I used my breath to get out of a situation recently; I had just returned to my car, which had been playing up recently.  I turned the key in the ignition but it wouldn’t move, and the doors had automatically locked.  The windows (which were electric) wouldn’t open, and it was a blazing hot day – I thought I was going to suffocate!  I started to panic as I kept turning the key, with no luck.  Then I suddenly remembered to do my breathing, and without me doing anything, the doors suddenly popped unlocked!  Praise be to the Most High! I thought I was going to die, lol – I can laugh now!

I was honoured to be able to organise this taster workshop; if you would like to attend one in the future, or are interested in signing up for her Universecity (starts in September) send me a message:

No Ordinary Woman Chat Show Interview

NOWLast October I attended an event where I met Caz Mac, who was in the process of setting up the No Ordinary Woman Chat Show YouTube Channel.  She would be interviewing a number of ordinary women doing extraodinary things! I gave her a signed copy of ‘Journey of a Sister‘ to read.  Some time later she contacted me really excited, having just finished reading the book, and invited me for an interview!  We had a good connection because she identified with a lot of what I’d written about.  In this interview I share my inspiration behind writing both books, but it’s mainly focused on the one she read.  The video launched on the No Ordinary Woman Chat Show YouTube Channel last week, and is available to watch NOW! First Video in my series: Why the Black Woman MUST Heal! (HAIR)

I recently became clear about my Purpose: It’s to ‘Help the Black Woman to Heal’ just as I am; mentally, emotionally, and spiritually (including from ancestral trauma). We MUST heal in order to truly love ourselves. And Self Love is the ROOT CAUSE of many of our issues, especially our relationships!  It’s important for us to heal for a number of reasons; we are the core of our commUNITY. We are the ones raising the next generation. We are the core of the family. If we don’t re-build our family structures by re-building our relationships with our MEN, we cannot re-build our commUNITY!

This is the first video in my series ‘Why the Black Woman MUST Heal!’ which is all about our HAIR:

When we as Black Women ‘RE-MEMBER’ Who We Are, we will naturally develop Self Love, which doesn’t rely on outward appearance, it comes from deep within.

If you would like to join me on this journey of Self-healing and Self-discovery, start by reading my Self-help novel ‘Journey of a Sister’ from Year One FREE!  In it  shared everything I discovered after asking God for “the Truth!” in a beautiful, Black Love story format!

If you identify with the topics raised in it, consider joining me on our Self-healing journey, by coming on The Self Love Retreat in the Gambia in November or December (subsequent dates may follow). I’ve organized for us to spend 7 days at the Healthy Ways Foundation, with authors of the cookbook ‘Spicy Tasty Vegan Cuisine’, Dr Joe Gregory and Naasira Angeela Bledsoe. Not only are they our hosts, they have a wealth of experience regarding relationships, healthy eating, and much more to share with us! There are only 6 places on each Retreat, to ensure individual attention. (You can choose either from the first two weeks in November, or the first two weeks in December, 12 women each month)

If you would like more information about The Self Love Retreat come to the Taster Workshop on Saturday 1st July being held at Intuition House, Borough, South London (right next to Borough High Street station); the cost is just £25 which includes a FREE copy of my Self-help novel ‘Journey of a Sister’, and if you decide to sign upon the day, the cost of the workshop (£25) will be deducted from the price of the Retreat! (£100 deposit will secure your place, the Retreat is priced at an introductory price of just £599!).

If you are unable to attend the Taster Workshop on July 1st but are interested in joining me on The Self Love Retreat, email me: cezanne@journeyofasister.com, and I will set up a Skype call to share the information!

All the topics covered in my video series ‘Why the Black Woman MUST Heal‘ are raised in my Self-help novel.  Order your personally signed paperback for just £9.99 with FREE delivery in the UK!

Today is Black Woman Heal Day!

Today is officially Black Woman Heal Day, founded by Lilada Gee in 2015.  The aim is to organise events, write blogs, and create forums where sisters can get information, share stories, and empower each other.

I would have liked to organise an event this year, but I’m attending the Woman to Woman Conference today, so I’ve decided to write a blog instead, with the aim of organizing an event next year…

Why The Black Woman MUST Heal:

The Black Womban is the Original Woman, the ‘Mother of All Nations’.

It has been scientifically proven that the oldest human remains is of a Black Womban.

She carries the original gene: Mitochondria DNA.  Men do not carry this gene, it can only be transferred from mother to child, which is where I believe the word inHERitance comes from! (I’ve covered the topic of MDNA in Year 8 of my Self-help novel ‘Journey of a Sister’)

There is a secret war against the Black Womban; to prevent her from ‘re-membering’ who she is, to degrade her image (and that of her male counterpart) in order to destroy her family, and ultimately her whole commUNITY.

The Black Womban is the core of her community; in order to heal our community, the Black Womban MUST heal – for the sake of the next generation!

The Black Womban, being the Mother of All Nations, is pow-HER-full!  But we have forgotten our power.  Many of us have issues to do with our womb, relating to the foods we eat, the products we put on our skin and hair, and the toxic men we sleep with.  In order to heal, we must return to nature!  In order to heal our relationships, we must begin by healing ourselves, starting with Self Love!

Self Love A3 Poem

Ways we can heal:

  • Get in touch with our True Self, by spending time alone, sitting in the Silence, meditating, praying, taking notes.
  • Read (and implement) Self-help books, audios and videos that help us return to our natural state of being.
  • Get into nature at least twice a week
  • Use natural skin and hair care products (these sink into your bloodstream!)
  • Grow natural! (There’s a section in my novel which will help you innerstand why this is important)
  • Exercise your mind and body daily
  • Eat foods provided by Mother Nature
  • Learn about the power of your yoni and womb (covered in Year 8 of ‘Journey of a Sister’)

In a society which has turned everything upside down, where the truth is now a lie, and a lie is now the truth, it doesn’t take much to realize why the Black Woman and her male counterpart is under such attack.  Yet WE have the power to turn everything the right way around again!  We are POW-HER-FULL!

The source of our power is in our EMOTIONS and our INTUITION.  Yet if we continue operating in our masculine energy instead of our feminine energy, we will never be able to tap into our full pow-HER.  We will never take our rightful position on this planet , next to our Black Man, reigning side by side.

As melanin-rich people, we are naturally spiritual, and naturally sexual.

Religion has played a big part in separating sex from spirituality, but in this time we MUST heal, and put the two back together again.  I have gone into much more detail about this in my novel, preview Year One FREE! (click on link to open)

The Truth about the Letter (featured in Year One)

In Year One of my Self-help novel ‘Journey of a Sister’ the main character Suzanne wrote a fearless letter to God asking all the questions the church couldn’t answer, and ended it by asking for “the Truth!”

She knew many of her brothers and sisters in Christ wanted to ask these same questions but were too scared for fear of God’s wrath, so she decided to stand in proxy for them.

The letter boldly questioned the Adam and Eve story, which opened the door for religion to make women subservient to men.  It also questioned the whole battle between God and the devil, which we, God’s creation, are supposedly caught in between.  The letter further questioned God’s ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ character; on one hand loving the world so much that He sent His only son as a blood sacrifice for our ‘sins’.  Yet on the other hand, the bible portrays God as this vengeful, jealous figure who had anger management issues.  Not only did He strike people dead with plagues, famine and war whenever he felt like it, He also supported groups of people in raping, plundering and killing others and stealing their land and inheritance.  Suzanne couldn’t relate to this second character, as she had only experienced God as Pure, Unconditional Love.

She asked why, even after praying in the name of Jesus, meditating on His word, and even fasting sometimes, she still had so many needs.  She had hit rock bottom when she wrote the letter, which marked a turning-point in her life.  She desperately wanted to figure out how to get her life to work.

Now, the truth about the letter:

While the letter was brilliantly constructed, it wasn’t something I took any time to sit and think about; it was an inspired letter that was ‘auto-written’, meaning I didn’t have to think about what I was writing, just like my inspired poems ‘Jesus Never Left You’, “Call Me By My Name!” (Jehovah), and “Look to Me!” (God’s reply to Suzanne’s letter which also features in Year One):

Reading the letter, you might wonder why God would inspire such questions.  The truth is, God was simply responding to the questions many of us have been asking in our heads but haven’t verbalized, because we’ve been told ‘not to question the infallible Word of God’ – as if God no longer speaks.

It was only after asking these questions that I began to receive the answers, and learnt ‘the Truth’, which I’m now sharing with you through this Self-help novel.  In fact, I had not intention of ever sharing the letter publicly, but when I started writing Year One, I was led to include the letter.  My response was “Are You sure?”.  I felt as if I was putting my life on the line by sharing it in the book, but surprisingly, many people have said they’ve asked the same questions!

I’ll also be performing my poem ‘R U The One?’ for the first time in a couple of years! This is a Dinner & Discussion type of event; the King/Queen theme features a lot in my books, poetry and art, so I was happy to accept the job of being Keynote Speaker! I will explain what it means to truly become a King or a Queen, and what we can do to re-build our Empire – our relationship! It’s not too late to  Book your ticket, which includes a Caribbean meal! The event starts at 4pm @ Xquisite Caribbean Bar & Restaurant, 7a Station Road, Tulse Hill SE27 9BW (right next to the station on the left)

Next Sunday: SAD Workshop @ Brixton Library Sunday 18th December 2-4pm

If you suffer from low energy, lack motivation and generally feel SAD at this time of the year (winter) read my blog post on how COLOUR THERAPY can help alleviate symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder, and come to my FREE workshop next Sunday! (Books and Art Prints will be on sale)
