What is YOUR Subconscious Programming? (Part 3)

Ok, let’s use another metaphor; think of your subconscious mind as a computer; a computer runs on a PROGRAM, or on various programs.  Until it’s programmed, it can do nothing.  A young child’s mind is like an un-programmed computer.

While I was going through the process of figuring out my mind in order to get it to work properly, I discovered that children go through what’s known as the ‘imprint period’, between the ages of 0-7.  Whatever they’re told repeatedly during this period becomes their subconscious programming. This subconscious programming is very difficult to change after the imprint period.  That’s why Frederick Douglas said “It’s much easier to raise strong children, than to mend broken adults”, and why the bible says “Train up a child in the way it should go, and when it is old, it will not depart from it”.  These are two examples of how deep this programming goes.

Now what if you were programmed for failure, like I was?

My programming at home was ‘You’re ugly, you’re worthless, you’re good-for-nothing, you don’t deserve it (whatever I wanted), and ‘not good enough’ (anything that I did)’.  Then on top of that I went to church every week where I was programmed to beLIEve I was born in sin,  was a was a poor, wretched sinner, was unworthy, and that I needed to be washed white as snow by a white savior in order to feel good about myself.  I’m not saying this to name or shame anyone, I’m simply sharing what I found when I dug deep into my subconscious mind, to get to the ROOT CAUSE of my issues.  So by the time I was in my early twenties, I had low self-esteem, didn’t believe in myself or my God-given talents, was a blocked writer and artist, suffered from severe bouts of depression, had mental breakdowns, and was even suicidal; I didn’t think my life was worth living.  Obviously I didn’t kill myself, but I thought about it enough times!

After the birth of my second sun, I knew I had to fix up; it wasn’t just my life at stake anymore, I had two little people to think about as well.  So I started the process of Self-healing.  This was back in the 90’s.  At the time, Anthony Robbins was all the rage on the Self-development scene; I read his books, listened to his CD’s, and even attended one of his seminars. I also read lots of other Self-development books like ‘The Magic of Thinking Big’ by David J. Schwartz,  ‘As a Man Thinketh’ by James Allen, ‘Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway’ by Susan Jeffers, and ‘The Artist’s Way’ by Julia Cameron.  They all began to show me the creative power of my mind.  But it was in 2007 when ‘The Secret‘ had exploded on the scene, that I really began to take control of my thoughts.  At the time I was homeless; I’d sent my 3 suns to live with their fathers, and was at my lowest point ever. Yet this was my biggest opportunity to change my life for GOOD.  I started learning how to meditate, and as a result, I unblocked as a writer and artist, painted 11 paintings, published three books, and wrote and recorded over 30 poems, all of which were creative expressions of what I was learning at the time – the creative power of my  mind.  But something else extraordinary began to happen; I began to access my super-conscious mind.

What is your super-conscious mind, and how do you access it?

I would say that your super-conscious mind is the part of you that’s connected to your Source.  You can only access your super-conscious mind through your sub-conscious mind.  Think of it like this:

Your conscious mind is on ground level, your sub-conscious mind is underground, and your super-conscious mind is way up in the skies…. What does this remind you of?  You’re right, a tick!  (Maybe Nike knows something we don’t – well, we do now!)  I didn’t learn this from anywhere, it came to me while I was writing this ARTicle,  I was like, WOW!  But where did this idea come from?  My super-conscious mind.  I have a tendency to auto-write, which means, I’m not really thinking about what I’m writing – I’m not consciously making it up, I simply allow it to come through me; much like how this ARTicle was written (It was originally meant to be a speech).  I also wrote 46,000 words of my Self-help novel ‘Journey of a Sister’ that way, and they formed the most beautiful story-line!  I didn’t sit down and construct the beginning, middle and end, like they teach you to do in Creative Writing classes, I let the story unfold by itself.  These are examples of how I use my super-conscious mind. So in order to access your super-conscious mind, you need to go down into your sub-conscious mind, which means your conscious mind needs to be put to rest.  This is the purpose of meditation, or relaxation.  If your mind is constantly on the go, you won’t be able to access your super-conscious mind.  If you allow yourself to be distracted by the tv, radio, phone calls, internet etc, you won’t be able to access your super-conscious mind.  Let me give you another example: One day I was lying on the sofa in a state of deep relaxation.  I wasn’t meditating, I was listening to one of my favourite indie groups, Fertile Ground. As I listened to their track (also called ‘Fertile Ground’) with my eyes closed, I was drifting in between sleep and consciousness – when all of a sudden this image just flashed in my mind:

It was only for a split second, but it was as if it left an impression on my mind, because I was able to get up and draw all the details. Now, I know this image didn’t come from ME, because I wasn’t even able to relate to it at first!  It took around 3 months for me to get around to painting it, because I found her big belly a bit off-putting; I certainly wasn’t feeling broody, and I’m not keen on the idea of a ‘white wedding’ either.  Yet ‘Love Bump‘ now illustrates Year 11 of ‘Journey of a Sister‘!

I didn’t think up the whole composition, so where did it come from?  I had accessed the Universal Mind (where all ideas reside) through my super-conscious mind, because my conscious mind was laid to rest.  I was drifting in and out of sleep, so my sub-conscious mind was dominant, and somehow, I had connected with my super-conscious (probably with the aid of the music I was listening to).

Now the title of this blog series is ‘Use Your Subconscious Mind to Create the Life YOU Choose’.  I had set an intention long before doing my paintings, writing my books, or recording my poetry, to buy my house with cash.  Once I set the intention, I began to be in-spired and to attract everything I needed to help me reach my goal.  It didn’t happen overnight…I’ve been at this for over 15 years.

Yes, there’s a process.

So let’s get back to the metaphor of the mind being a garden; there are different types of seeds you can plant, some take longer to blossom and bloom than others – the process doesn’t happen overnight – sometimes I wondered if it even really worked at all!  But each time I questioned the process, I was reminded that I didn’t plant a flower, I’d planted a TREE.

Most people would have given up by now, but what else could I do? Go and get a 9-5 job? That would never help me reach my goal!  Go back to uni and get a degree in creative writing or art? I’ve always dropped out of classes because they stifled my free-spirited way of creating.

I just had to trust the process….

In the last part of this series, I’m going to share with you how I re-program my subconscious mind for success, and how you can more easily do the same,  click here to read it!

The Mboka Literary Festival, Gambia

I’ve been in the Gambia since November the 30th, where I facilitated the first Self Love Retreat; I’ve also been editing a book on African Wholistic Health, writing, and doing book signings!

I had the pleasure of taking part in The Mboka Literary Festival (even though I wasn’t on their program) where I had a stand at their Books, Art and Crafts fair, held at the Senegambia Hotel.  I met a lovely siSTAR there who was quick in capturing ‘the moment’:

(the voice behind the camera – and brothas, she’s single!)

I didn’t tell her to say I was a famous author but I receive it lol.  I also had the opportunity to talk with some youth about my book, and to performed my poem ‘Who Am I?‘ which I wrote back in 2005 when I first discovered that my roots were in Africa:

The festival has been a wonderful bonus to my work-holiday, and to top it off, I also had the pleasure of meeting the legendary dub poet Linton Kwesi Johnson, who was the main act on the bill for the Festival – I saw him perform live at the Ebunjan Theatre, only his poetry wasn’t accompanied by the dub music which he’s famous for!

I’m grateful to be avoiding the cold, English weather, but I’m missing my 3 ‘suns’, and would have loved for them to been able to join me over the new year period – I’m working towards them being able to join me anywhere I am in the world!  This is my process of Self-actualization (creating my life on my own terms).  While here, I’ve been inspired to write my first speech on the topic! It’s called ‘Use Your Subconscious Mind to Create the Life YOU Choose’, which I’m aiming to have finished, memorized and recorded before the next Self Love Retreat is due to start next month!  My universe has supported me by introducing me to a videographer (a UK brother who’s been living in the Gambia for the last 12 years),  While writing the speech I was inspired to create a video for my poem ‘Fertile Soil’ which happens to support what my speech is all about; it explains how your subconscious mind is the fertile soil into which your thought-seeds are planted, and is illustrated by two of my paintings:

My books are being well received here in the Gambia, especially as there’s so many UK peeps living here!

Read my Review on the Kings & Queens Book Tour (1-8 Oct)
Contact me for interviews, orders, bookings or any other query below:

Join us at the Launch of the Kings & Queens Book Tour! (Sun 1st Oct)

The Kings and Queens Book Tour starts next week! Come and learn the secret science to Black Male & Female Relationships!  Have you got your tickets? They’re going fast!

I’ve invited TC Carrier, author of ‘The Secret Science of Black Male & Female Sex‘ and King Kevin Dorival, author of ‘7 Types of Queens, Kings Desire‘ to join me from the USA, to share some important information that will help us elevate ourselves as a commUNITY, and regain our rightful positions in society!  This is no joke…

As I was writing the First Edition of my Self-help novel (then titled ‘Single, Spiritual…AND Sexual!) I woke up in the middle of the night and ‘auto-wrote’ the scene where Suzanne and Charles performed their first sex ritual.  By the following year they went on to build a multi-million pound business!  46,000 words of my novel were ‘channelled’, which meant I didn’t have to think about what I was writing, it came through me rather than from me.  When I published the e-book on Amazon, I did a search for it (as you do when you’re a new author!) and TC’s book ‘The Secret Science of Black Male & Female Sex‘ came up beside it as ‘recommended reading’.

I was curious so I ordered it, and lo and behold, his book explained the whole science behind what I thought I’d made up!  It took me a few years to get in contact with TC, and I was ecstatic when he agreed to come to London to share this knowledge with our commUNITY!

King Kevin Dorival contacted me last year and asked me to write the Foreword for his book ‘7 Types of Queens, Kings Desire‘.

I was happy to, as the King/Queen theme run heavily through my books, art and poetry!

(My painting ‘My King’ features in Year Five of my Revised book, now titled ‘Journey of a Sister’)

King Kevin had also referenced TC’s book in his, so I invited them both together, to join me in getting this important information into our commUNITY, is this is the key to us elevating our relationships and re-building our empires! Our ancestors built great civilizations by harnessing their sexual energy and using it to create.  In order to regain our rightful positions in this world, me must get back to practicing these ancient rituals!

I now truly believe that this is the reason why there’s a covert operation to keep the Black Man and Woman apart – because we’re powerful together, when we’re operating on a high level of consciousness! (this relates to the crown chakra, hence the title of the tour).

If you have a religious mindset, the very word ‘ritual’ might seem off-putting, but as I explained in my novel, the word ritual is found in spiritual!

In today’s society, the sexual act has been degraded, and we’ve been taught to dissipate our sexual energy instead of harnessing it.  Most people only operate from their lower, animalistic nature when having sex.  But did you know that there’s ‘another level’ you can reach in your sex and spirituality?  This is what you will learn when you join us on the Kings and Queens Book Tour.  On Thursday 5th October from 6-9pm TC Carrier will be doing a Lecture on ‘The Secret Science of Black Male & Female Sex‘ – don’t miss it!

On the same day from 2-5pm, King Kevin Dorival will be running a workshop to help you identify what type of Queen you are, so you can attract the right type of King.  Each of these workshops are only £15, attend both for just £25.00 (use the same link to book individual workshops).

Join us at the Launch on Sunday 1st October!

Meet the Authors at the Launch of the Kings & Queens Book Tour on Sunday 1st October, 1-3pm at 146 Queen Victoria Street, Blackfriars.  I will be interviewing TC and King Kevin, and this will also be your opportunity to ask us any questions!  The topic will be “What does it mean to be a King or a Queen?” reserve your  ticket now – limited seating, all we ask for is a donation towards the tour to cover travel, accommodation, and meals etc.  Myself, TC and Kevin have so far used our own resources to put this tour together, any amount whether small or large will be greatly appreciated!  From 4-7pm both authors will be on the Panel at the Kings & Queens United event (same venue), your ticket price includes a meal, to book yours >> click on this link <<

TC and King Kevin will sign your books at the Launch, order them online if possible so you can read them ahead of the tour.  You can order your signed paperback of ‘Journey of a Sister’ below, with FREE postage in the UK:

Review: African American Research Library Book Festival

I just got back from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where I took part in the African American Research Library & Cultural Centre‘s Annual Book Festival, courtesy of King Kevin Dorival!

The building itself was amazing; the equivalent of The Marcus Garvey Library, The Black Cultural Archives, and the Bernie Grant Arts Centre all under one roof! The library also has a state-of-the-art Theatre, and Black History Museum.
On Friday we were taken on a tour of the building by Essy, the Director. We were able to see some of the African artefacts they had accumulated, including some which belonged to the founder of the library, Samuel F. Morrison.
I also got to interview Samuel F. Morrison in the flesh! He is the visionary behind the library, who raised the $60,000,000 needed to build it. It was great to see that they had created a legacy for him while he’s still alive!
Later that evening I was one of the authors who featured in ‘An Evening with the Literary Stars‘, an exclusive evening where we got to pitch our books to the audience for 5 minutes each.
The following day was open to the public; I was on the Romance Panel with two other authors:
We had a lively discussion and afterwards, audience participants purchased their signed copies of our books!  (King Kevin Dorival was also on the panel).

The Kings are Coming!

King Kevin will be coming to London for the Kings & Queens Book Tour taking place on the 1-8th October.  We will be focusing on his newly-released book ‘7 Types of Queens, Kings Desire‘ (I wrote the Foreword).
King Kevin has informed me that  he’ll be on the look-out for his Queen, so ladies, read his book!

I managed to interview King Kevin before I came back to London:

TC Carrier, author of ‘The Secret Science of Black Male and Female Sex‘ is also coming to London to take part in the Kings & Queens Book Tour!
The reason I’ve invited  both King Kevin and TC Carrier to London to take part in the Kings & Queens Book Tour is because both their books compliment my Self-help romance novel ‘Journey of a Sister‘.  All 3 books will really help you on your own journey of Self-discovery!
Tickets will also go on sale shortly, and you’re advised to get yours early – it’s going to be SOLD OUT! (don’t say you weren’t warned!)
The tour will include Book Signing & Discussion Events as well as Workshops; ‘What Type of Queen Are You?‘ ‘What is Spiritual Sex?‘ Come and find out!  Order your books and read them in advance, so you can join in the discussions!

No Ordinary Woman Chat Show Interview

NOWLast October I attended an event where I met Caz Mac, who was in the process of setting up the No Ordinary Woman Chat Show YouTube Channel.  She would be interviewing a number of ordinary women doing extraodinary things! I gave her a signed copy of ‘Journey of a Sister‘ to read.  Some time later she contacted me really excited, having just finished reading the book, and invited me for an interview!  We had a good connection because she identified with a lot of what I’d written about.  In this interview I share my inspiration behind writing both books, but it’s mainly focused on the one she read.  The video launched on the No Ordinary Woman Chat Show YouTube Channel last week, and is available to watch NOW! First Video in my series: Why the Black Woman MUST Heal! (HAIR)

I recently became clear about my Purpose: It’s to ‘Help the Black Woman to Heal’ just as I am; mentally, emotionally, and spiritually (including from ancestral trauma). We MUST heal in order to truly love ourselves. And Self Love is the ROOT CAUSE of many of our issues, especially our relationships!  It’s important for us to heal for a number of reasons; we are the core of our commUNITY. We are the ones raising the next generation. We are the core of the family. If we don’t re-build our family structures by re-building our relationships with our MEN, we cannot re-build our commUNITY!

This is the first video in my series ‘Why the Black Woman MUST Heal!’ which is all about our HAIR:

When we as Black Women ‘RE-MEMBER’ Who We Are, we will naturally develop Self Love, which doesn’t rely on outward appearance, it comes from deep within.

If you would like to join me on this journey of Self-healing and Self-discovery, start by reading my Self-help novel ‘Journey of a Sister’ from Year One FREE!  In it  shared everything I discovered after asking God for “the Truth!” in a beautiful, Black Love story format!

If you identify with the topics raised in it, consider joining me on our Self-healing journey, by coming on The Self Love Retreat in the Gambia in November or December (subsequent dates may follow). I’ve organized for us to spend 7 days at the Healthy Ways Foundation, with authors of the cookbook ‘Spicy Tasty Vegan Cuisine’, Dr Joe Gregory and Naasira Angeela Bledsoe. Not only are they our hosts, they have a wealth of experience regarding relationships, healthy eating, and much more to share with us! There are only 6 places on each Retreat, to ensure individual attention. (You can choose either from the first two weeks in November, or the first two weeks in December, 12 women each month)

If you would like more information about The Self Love Retreat come to the Taster Workshop on Saturday 1st July being held at Intuition House, Borough, South London (right next to Borough High Street station); the cost is just £25 which includes a FREE copy of my Self-help novel ‘Journey of a Sister’, and if you decide to sign upon the day, the cost of the workshop (£25) will be deducted from the price of the Retreat! (£100 deposit will secure your place, the Retreat is priced at an introductory price of just £599!).

If you are unable to attend the Taster Workshop on July 1st but are interested in joining me on The Self Love Retreat, email me: cezanne@journeyofasister.com, and I will set up a Skype call to share the information!

All the topics covered in my video series ‘Why the Black Woman MUST Heal‘ are raised in my Self-help novel.  Order your personally signed paperback for just £9.99 with FREE delivery in the UK!

The Truth about the Letter (featured in Year One)

In Year One of my Self-help novel ‘Journey of a Sister’ the main character Suzanne wrote a fearless letter to God asking all the questions the church couldn’t answer, and ended it by asking for “the Truth!”

She knew many of her brothers and sisters in Christ wanted to ask these same questions but were too scared for fear of God’s wrath, so she decided to stand in proxy for them.

The letter boldly questioned the Adam and Eve story, which opened the door for religion to make women subservient to men.  It also questioned the whole battle between God and the devil, which we, God’s creation, are supposedly caught in between.  The letter further questioned God’s ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ character; on one hand loving the world so much that He sent His only son as a blood sacrifice for our ‘sins’.  Yet on the other hand, the bible portrays God as this vengeful, jealous figure who had anger management issues.  Not only did He strike people dead with plagues, famine and war whenever he felt like it, He also supported groups of people in raping, plundering and killing others and stealing their land and inheritance.  Suzanne couldn’t relate to this second character, as she had only experienced God as Pure, Unconditional Love.

She asked why, even after praying in the name of Jesus, meditating on His word, and even fasting sometimes, she still had so many needs.  She had hit rock bottom when she wrote the letter, which marked a turning-point in her life.  She desperately wanted to figure out how to get her life to work.

Now, the truth about the letter:

While the letter was brilliantly constructed, it wasn’t something I took any time to sit and think about; it was an inspired letter that was ‘auto-written’, meaning I didn’t have to think about what I was writing, just like my inspired poems ‘Jesus Never Left You’, “Call Me By My Name!” (Jehovah), and “Look to Me!” (God’s reply to Suzanne’s letter which also features in Year One):

Reading the letter, you might wonder why God would inspire such questions.  The truth is, God was simply responding to the questions many of us have been asking in our heads but haven’t verbalized, because we’ve been told ‘not to question the infallible Word of God’ – as if God no longer speaks.

It was only after asking these questions that I began to receive the answers, and learnt ‘the Truth’, which I’m now sharing with you through this Self-help novel.  In fact, I had not intention of ever sharing the letter publicly, but when I started writing Year One, I was led to include the letter.  My response was “Are You sure?”.  I felt as if I was putting my life on the line by sharing it in the book, but surprisingly, many people have said they’ve asked the same questions!

Kwanzaa is originally an African-American concept which celebrates 7 Core Principles (Nguzo Saba), represented by a different candle each day.  It begins on the 26th of December, and ends of the 1st of January, culminating in a feast and an exchange of gifts. Each of the seven days of Kwanzaa honors a different Principle; these Principles are  key to building strong, productive African families and communities.

Kwanzaa is based on year-end harvest festivals that have taken place throughout Africa for thousands of years. The name comes from the Swahili phrase “matunda ya kwanza,” which means “first fruits of the harvest.” The Founder of Kwanzaa, Dr. Maulana “Ron” Karenga chose a phrase from Swahili because the language is used by various peoples throughout Africa.

Colours

The colors of Kwanzaa are red, black and green. The Kwanzaa flag consists of three blocks, one in each of these colors. Three of the seven candles are red, three are green and one is black.

During the celebrations, candles are lit and libations are poured from a wooden cup. A libation is the name given to a ritual pouring of water or white rum as an offering to our ancestors.

A Kwanzaa ceremony often includes performances of music and drumming, a reflection on the Pan-African colors of red, green and black and a discussion of some aspect of African history. Women often wear brightly colored traditional clothing. Some cultural organizations hold special exhibitions of African influenced art and market stalls during the period of the celebrations.

Greeting

During Kwanzaa, celebrants greet each other with “Habari gani,” or “What’s the news?” The 7 Principles of Kwanzaa form the answers.
