Book Discussion Event TODAY, and affordable holidays in the Gambia!

The clocks are going back next week, which means shorter days and longer nights.  As people of colour, we tend to suffer during the winter months, not just because of the cold, but because we need more sunlight; do you feel lethargic, lack energy, feel unmotivated to do anything, and generally feel ‘under the weather’ during the long, grey winter months? You could be suffering from a form of depression known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which is caused by lack of natural sunlight.  It affects people of colour the most because our MELANIN needs sunlight for us to be able to function properly.  If affects our nervous system, and mental health when we don’t get enough sun in our skin.

What can you do to heal yourself?

Sun Therapy
Many of us are mis-diagnosed and prescribed with anti-depressants, when what we really need is a good dose of vitamin D!  The best thing you can do is to get in the sun, even if it’s just for a week or two, to top up your melanin.  This will give you the boost you need to endure the rest of the winter.

Colour Therapy
I intuitively healed myself from SAD with the bright colours in my paintings.  This led me to study Colour Therapy, which I now teach on my Retreats.  You can learn more about how colours affect your mood and emotions, and download my art to benefit from the colours in them too!

Affordable holidays in the Gambia
You can also join me on The Self Love Retreat (December, January or March), The L.O.V.E Retreat (Feb 2019), or the Nurture Your Inner Child Retreat (March 2019).
As people of colour, we need the sun!  I’m now in the process of setting up a Retreat Home in the Gambia to be able to offer affordable holidays for you to come and get what you need; the sun, a connection with your Motherland, and the time to re-discover your Self.  On The Self Love Retreat, I facilitate 5 Self-nurturing workshops, designed to help you re-connect with your inner Self.  We also enjoy cultural day trips, and a Pamper Day at the most luxurious hotel in the Gambia!   The L.O.V.E. Retreat is being facilitated by Qigong master Wayne ‘wonder’ Harris, and is suitable for singles and couples!  The Nurture Your Inner Child Retreat is for you, if you would like to get your creative juices flowing again!  Click on the links for details of each Retreat, they’re only £499-£599 each!  (Flights must be booked separately).

SPACES ARE LIMITED TO 8 PEOPLE on each Retreat, so book early to avoid disappointment!  You can reserve your place with a £100 non-refundable deposit, and pay in easy monthly instalments that suit you, click here for more info and to download the Booking Form

I wrote ‘Journey of a Sister‘ to share everything I discovered after asking God for ‘the Truth!’ in 2001.  I was at a crossroads in my life, and had been a Christian all my life, but had so many questions that the church couldn’t answer, so I put them all to my Creator in a fearless letter:

While I was writing my book – which was simply meant to be a black erotica novel  (I wrote all the sex scenes first!)  Spirit prompted me to include this letter in Year One! I asked “Are You sure?”  It was only meant to be between me and God, but when I published the book, so many people could relate to it!

“Goddess Cezanne, I only downloaded your book an hour ago. Your transparency–with addressing God’s relationship with man–is unlike anything I’ve ever read, but just about EVERYTHING I ever THOUGHT! THIS is why we write! THIS is part of why we are here! To develop such a degree of openness and authenticity that would ONLY make us realize all the more that you and I…ALL of us—are not ‘far’ from one another. I thank you, and I honor your courage to press through and realize your gifts and the DEPTHS thereof. One Love”  ~ Gary B, USA

“…It spoke to me on SOOOO many levels – it was as though you were writing about my experience at times. The church thing is SOOOO on point!!! While experiencing a range of emotions, I wondered, pondered, shrieked, gasped and almost wept when I came to the end!  And please God…any chance of meeting someone like Charles??” ~ Silverlox Fox, London

God’s Reply to my letter is also features in Year One:

Journey of a Sister will take you on your own personal journey of Self-discovery, and empower you to re-member who you are, and the innate power you were born with.  Download Year One FREE today, and join me on Sunday to discuss!  To pick up your signed paperback on the day, simply pay £10 into my Paypal account!  If you’re unable to attend the event but would like a book, pay £15 into my Paypal account and I’ll put your signed copy in the post!

“The book was absolutely fantastic, I could not put it down.  It was far different than I expected, but far greater. The love story was divine and I loved the way that love grew into the true meaning of love and creation rather than a typical explicit book…” Brenda, London

“…I must confess, this is the first time I will be coming across a work challenging a lot of the childhood indoctrination I grew up with, yet written in a pleasant, indisputable, un-put-down-able, and suspense-filled manner. Talk about intellectually-stimulating and pleasurable rolled into one! All my life I’ve been reading novels and motivational/inspirational books, on Black Consciousness, but I must confess that I’ve never come across a single book combining all these genres in a single package…” ~ A. Ibiyomi, Nigeria

Are you starting to feel SAD? (Seasonal Affective Disorder)

Today is World Mental Health Day; the clocks are going back this weekend, which means shorter days, and even less sunlight!  The short days and grey weather can have an adverse effect on the mental health of people of colour, because the pigment in our skin (known as MELANIN) needs the UV rays of the sun to function properly.  When we don’t get enough sunlight we can lack energy, feel lethargic, unmotivated, and suffer from a form of depression known as SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), which is caused by a lack of natural sunlight.

We NEED the sun!

Symptoms of SAD can include:

  • A persistent low mood
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in normal everyday activities
  • Irritability
  • Feelings of despair, guilt and worthlessness
  • Feeling lethargic (lacking in energy) and sleepy during the day
  • Going to bed much earlier than normal yet finding it hard to get up in the morning
  • Comfort eating and gaining weight

The main treatments offered by the NHS are:

  • Getting as much natural sunlight as possible, exercising regularly and managing your stress levels
  • Light Therapy – where a special lamp called a light box is used to simulate exposure to sunlight
  • talking therapies, such cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) or counselling
  • antidepressant medication such as Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs)

Colour Therapy Can Help!

Many of us are mis-diagnosed and prescribed SSRIs (antidepressants), when what we really need is a good dose of sun!   I healed myself from SAD using COLOUR THERAPY, which isn’t even mentioned on the NHS website!

In the winter of 2009 I intuitively painted some bright, colourful paintings, and after putting them up around the house, I noticed I wasn’t getting my usual symptoms of wanting to stay in bed with the covers over my head, and not wanting to look outside at the grey sky and buildings, and generally feeling ‘under the weather’.  The symptoms vanished! You can download my Art and save them to your phone or print them and put them up so you can benefit from the Colour Therapy in them too!

Come Top Up Your Melanin in the Gambia!

I’m now setting up a Retreat Home in the Gambia where I’ll be spending my winters, and you can join me there for The Self Love Retreat, an affordable holiday where you can enjoy Self nurturing workshops, cultural day trips, and a Pamper Day at the luxurious Coco Ocean Hotel and Spa!

This holiday will give you the opportunity to top up your melanin to see you through the rest of the winter, and to reconnect with your Motherland. I’ll be teaching Colour Therapy as one of the workshops, and you’ll return home with something you’ve created that you can refer to whenever you need a pick-me-up, click on the flyer above ☝🏾for details!

Why We NEED a Safe Space to HEAL (Gambia)

As you may know, I’m in the process of setting up a Retreat Home in the Gambia for our healing Retreats.  It’s important to have a safe space for us to heal because some of the methods we will be using are ‘unconventional’.  That is, some of the plant medicines we will be using to help us heal have been BANNED by the medical establishment, 1) because they can’t make money from a plant, and 2) because these plants are our short-cut to healing on a deep psychological level.  For instance, Iboga is a plant from Africa that has been made illegal, yet the medical establishment have made a chemical drug from it called Ibogaine, which is used to cure addictions.

I initially began my self healing journey using Positive Affirmations, Meditation, changing my food intake to a more plant based diet, and spending more time in nature.  But after 15+ years, I reached a point where I didn’t know what else to do, yet I was still not fully healed from my psychological trauma.  So I asked Spirit “What now??”

This is when I was introduced to plant medicines; first psilocybe (magic) mushrooms, then cannabis oil.   I’m now on the road to complete recovery, working my way up to Iboga, ‘the father of all plants’, which is known to clear all trauma buried deep in the subconscious.  I feel that plants such as these are our fast-track to repairing our DNA.

When I took mushrooms for the first time, I had a deep insperience which took me through my ancestry before slavery (royalty).  The message I received was that my my enslaved ancestors endured such pain, that it altered their DNA structure.  Can you imagine being whipped until the skin on your back is raw?  Or being repeatedly raped by different men?  Or seeing your children, wife, or mother abused and being helpless to do anything about it?  As a child, I was beaten mercilessly, and I now see the link between how my mother was programmed, and plantation life.  She’s not to blame, she was simply enacting her genetic coding.  However, when you’re being brutally beaten, your mind may split, or dis-associate in order to deal with the unbearable pain.  The cruel whippings were not just a physical violation, they were aimed at breaking our ancestors down mentally, in order to reprogram their minds to how they wanted them to think.

If you’re the descendant of an enslaved African (especially if you’re Jamaican) you may be carrying genetic memory of past trauma in your DNA.  If you truly wish to be healed, join me on this plant medicine journey!

If you look on Youtube for videos about ‘magic’ mushrooms, Ayahuasca, cannabis oil, Iboga etc, you’ll notice its mainly Europeans who have been going on these kind of Retreats.  I’m learning about these plant medicines with the aim of bringing them to the Gambia to incorporate them on my Retreats.

PMP – Plant Medicine Pusher

Last week, while in a trance state from inhaling distilled cannabis oil, the letters ‘PMP‘ flashed before my eyes in big bold black capitals, like a logo – I asked what it meant, and I got the message ‘Plant Medicine Pusher‘.  I burst out laughing!  Yes, I’m a P(i)MP!  I also saw the message; “Plant medicines are my friends, and I need to get to know them better”

My job (which I accept willingly) is to introduce plant medicines to my community.  I actually think they work better on us because of our Melanin (which is also in plants).

HELP ME HELP YOU!

I’m still fundraising for the container I sent to the Gambia for our new Retreat Home.  Even though most of the furniture was donated, it cost me nearly £1,500 to ship them, plus I still have to pay another £635 at the other end, for them to clear customs and be delivered to the house! I managed to raise £650 in contributions for the container (£500 from my own sister), and used the money I collected for the November and December Retreats to make up the balance.  I’m not taking on any stress, so I’m appealing to my commUNITY to help raise the £8,000 needed to fully get the Retreat Home ready! (this includes a year’s rent in advance for the Retreat Home):

The Journey to Self Love…

Imagine growing up never receiving any hugs or kisses, or being told “I love you”.

You never saw your parents display any love or affection towards each other.

As a young child, the lack of love within your home may have caused you to supress your true emotions, to lack the ability to give or receive love in a healthy manner, and to develop a healthy relationship with your Self.

As you grow up, you may seek love outside of the home in the form of promiscuity, gang life, drug dependency, or other self-harming ways.

You may have even been raised in a religious environment that spoke of God’s unconditional Love, yet still, you failed to experience this kind of love from your parents, because they themselves didn’t experience it.

You don’t realize that the root cause of your issues as an adult is a Self Love Deficit.  You weren’t taught how to love yourself, let alone how to love others.

You were taught to put others first, to put God first, and to put your own needs last.  So slowly, your cup became empty as you poured into other people’s lives, without giving to yourself.

If (like myself) you can identify with the above story, the journey to Self Love may be a long and tedious one. You’re going to have to fill your meter from a Self Love Deficit, to filling your Self with Love. Where would you say you are right now on that meter? (I’d say I’m about half way)

True Love is unconditional.

Do you love yourself unconditionally? If not, how can you expect others to?  When you give unconditional love to yourself, it will be reflected back to you.

I wish I’d known this years ago. Instead, I hated myself; I hated my looks, I hated my hair, I hated my skin, I hated my nose, I hated everything about me (apart from my teeth).

But I loved God.

How can I say I loved God when I didn’t love myself?

I wasn’t taught to recognize God within, I was taught to think of God as being outside of myself, somewhere beyond the clouds.

To truly put God first, is to recognize God within. When I say ‘God’, I’m referring to the Source of Love.

Yes, your Source of Love is within.

Come with me on a journey of Self discovery, the Journey to Self Love!

From 1st January 2019 I’ll be starting The 30 Day Self❤Love Challenge, and I’d LOVE you to join me!

To prepare, you will need;

▪A hand mirror
▪A drinking glass
▪Water
▪A notebook/journal/recording device

▪Optional extra: rose quartz crystal

For 30 days, we will perform 3 easy daily tasks, and an end of week Self Love Treat, designed to help fill us up with Love, until we can give of our overflow instead of a Self Love Deficit – if you like, you can get started right away!

1) As soon as you wake up and before you go to sleep, look in your mirror and tell yourself “I LOVE YOU”. Look straight in your eyes; this may feel uncomfortable at first, but the more you do it, the easier it will get.
2) Pour some water in a glass, put your love intention into it and say “I LOVE YOU” into the water to program it before drinking it.  This is based on Dr Emoto’s water experiment, and that we are made up of 70% water. (Click on the link below to The Self❤Love Retreat page to watch a short  video about the effects of words on water)

3) Repeat a Positive Affirmation to your Self each day, such as “I love myself unconditionally”

We will end each week with a Self Care Treat that will help build Self Love.  Imagine, the more people doing The 30 Day Self❤Love Challenge will not only raise individual frequencies, but will help raise the Love frequency of the whole planet!

BE PART OF THE MOVEMENT!

You can either do The 30 Day Self❤Love Challenge on your own, with your partner, or a group of friends – this is for men too!  Share this page with your friends and family, we’re aiming to have at least 1,000 people ready to start on January 1st!  3 other facilitators will be joining me, each of us facilitating one week. You’ll get a prep video at the beginning of the week, daily emails to coach you on the Journey, downloadable worksheets, and a group call at the end of each week, all for FREE!  (If you want more individual attention, you’ll be able to pay for 1-2-1 coaching with the practitioner for that week).

Education for Wealth in the Gambia!

On Wednesday I attended a Round Table meeting in Westminster called ‘Education for Wealth in the Gambia’:

Some ambitious aims were set, including these by High Commissioner Frances Blain:
1) Improving the planning and management of higher education
2) Enhancing basic education and literacy
3) Building new schools and providing science labs and IT equipment
4) Improve qualifications and quality of teachers
5) concerted efforts to effectively raise women’s level of education, literacy and skills, and involve women in development
6) Increase women’s access to modern scientific and tech innovations
7) Training program for women entrepreneurs in food processing, e-commerce, entrepreneurial awareness, management skills, technical knowledge, to run small businesses in the food processing sector
8) Curriculum reform designed to ensure skills, knowledge and attitudes acquired are relevant to the development needs if the Gambia
9) Strengthening higher education, science and technology as part of an effort to develop coherent and sustainable systems for tech skills
10) Human resources development in the form of Commonwealth scholarship tenable in the UK as part of a co-ordinated effort to increase and strengthen national capacities in various areas

Other aims:
• To close the gap between industry and education
• Re-imagine education (90% failure rate this year)
• Make studying in the Gambia fashionable
• Make agriculture fashionable, and find export markets
• Diasporians to invest in small businesses in the Gambia
• Give youth the motivation to want to stay in the Gambia
• ‘Retired but not tired’ – Retired Gambians to become teachers? (Give them something to do)
• The Gambians have so much to teach diasporians too!

A report will be out by December (by Patricia, from Aspire Education Group)

My personal opinion is that we from the diaspora must return home and invest in our Motherland, as we cannot rely on corrupt governments to invest in educating the locals to a high standard in order to improve the economy. As with other parts of Africa, the indeginous people have been under-educated in order for them to be easily exploited by non-Africans, who continue to rape and plunder Africa in the name of ‘aid’.

Be Part of the SOLUTION!

For things to change in Africa, WE have to ‘be the change we want to see‘. By investing in small businesses, buying land and developing, starting our own  businesses, and helping create employment for locals, we can make a positive difference to the economical growth of the Gambia (and other parts of Africa).

I’ve rented this 6 bed house in Gunjur for a year, where I’ll be facilitating healing retreats for people of African descent, especially those who are still suffering from the psychological effects of slavery and colonialism.  There are two Retreats to choose from: The SelfLove Retreat (8-15 November or 3-10 December 2018) and Let’s Build a Village Retreat (20-29 November or 17-24 December).  From February next year I’ll be collaborating with other practitioners each month to provide healing retreats for mind, spirit and body (more info to follow).

If you like the idea of relocating to the Gambia, join us on the Let’s Build a Village Retreat, where a small group of people are putting money together to purchase land to build a small ‘village within a village’.  We’ve also been given some land in Gunjur to build a school and commUNITY centre, which will be shared with the locals. The idea is to integrate within the local community, learning from each other, and creating wealth together.  The Retreat will give you the opportunity to view the land, find out more about the village project, get to meet the locals, see what investment opportunities are available, and meet your potential neighbours!

You can book to join us on any of the Retreats by clicking on the links above for each Retreat, or fill in the Contact Form below.

DO-NATIONS!

I’m sending a 20 foot container to the Gambia  next week to furnish the Retreat Home, as well as distributing items to the locals. I’ve received some good quality household furniture, and am also collecting phones, bikes, clothes, shoes, books by Black Authors, text books, pencils, pens etc. If you have something you’d like to donate contact me using the form below.

Get a FREE WEEK stay at the Retreat Home!

Make a monetary contribution to sending the 20 foot container (total cost is over £3,000)  with PayPal (just enter the amount you wish to contribute) CONTRIBUTE  £100 OR MORE TO QUALIFY FOR A WEEK STAY AT THE RETREAT HOME IN 2019!

Are you ready for the 30 Day Self ❤Love Challenge?

Starts TOMORROW!

To prepare, you will need;

▪A hand mirror
▪A drinking glass
▪Water
▪A rose quartz crystal (optional)
▪A notebook/journal/recording device

If you don’t have a hand mirror, simply look  in your wall mirror when you get up (it’s just more effective looking in the mirror when you’re still in your half-asleep state).

The rose quartz is also optional; I’ve added it because it’s known for helping to develop unconditional love for self and others, universal love, and for helping restore trust and harmony in relationships.  It purifies and opens the heart, encouraging a deep inner healing and feelings of peace.  You can get a small stone for a few pounds/dollars, and you can even get them in the shape of a love heart!  (not necessary though).  The 30 Day Self Love Challenge is for women and men; if you’re a woman, you can also get another rose quartz crystal to wear inside your bra, next to your heart.  If you’re a man, you can wear it in your inside pocket, as close to your heart as possible.

Each day we will be keeping a record of our Journey to Self Love, so treat your Self to a small notebook specially for this Challenge, you can even pick up a nice one at the pound shop!  If you have time, decorate it and make it special – you can even download and print my painting Self Love and stick it on the front of your journal! (or any of my other art).

Why are we doing the 30 Day Self❤Love Challenge?

Many of us were raised with a Self Love Deficit,  because we didn’t experience love growing up.  This has affected the way we treat ourselves, and the way we relate to others.  The 30 Day Self❤Love Challenge will give us the opportunity to address our inner relationship issues, and to develop Unconditional Love for ourselves, using two simple daily tasks, a daily Self Love Affirmation, and a weekly Self Love treat!

Task 1: In front of a mirror, look your Self in the eyes and say to yourself “I LOVE YOU!”  (It might feel uncomfortable at first, but the more you do it, the better you will feel).  Repeat this a few times to your Self, morning and night.

Task 2: Pour some water into a glass.   Spend a minute focusing on the water and putting your love intention into it.  Say “I LOVE YOU” into the water before drinking it.  For added potency, include a rose quartz crystal at the bottom of your glass. (This is based on Dr Maasaru Emoto’s water experiment showing the effect words and intent have on water, and that we’re made up of 70% water).

The Affirmation for Day One will be:

“I LOVE MYSELF UNCONDITIONALLY”

(Repeat it as often as possible throughout your day).

By completing the 30 Day Self❤Love Challenge, we will not only be increasing our own love frequency, but helping to raise the love frequency of the whole planet!  If you’re often fearful, this challenge will help with that too!

There’s something about groups of people doing things together; not only does it hold us accountable to ensure we complete the Challenge, but our collective energies are much more powerful than when we do it individually, and the more people doing this Challenge, the more Universal Love will expand, be part of the movement!

Nurture Your Inner Child in the Gambia!

 15-22 March 2019

“Learning to re-connect with and nurture our inner child is one of the best gifts we can give ourselves in adulthood” ~ Cezanne

Join me in the Gambia for 7 days of nurturing your Inner Child!

‘All children are artists, the problem is how to remain one when we grow up’ ~ Pablo Picasso

We were all naturally creative as children, but somewhere between childhood and adulthood some of us ‘lose it’.

Is your inner child crying out to be heard?

I was a blocked writer and artist for over 15 years; on this Retreat, I’ll take you through the same processes I went through to unblock, based on the book I credit with helping me to unblock, ‘The Artist’s Way’ by Julia Cameron.  The workshops are playful, nurturing, and designed to coax your inner child from out of the dark recesses of your mind, so that you can reconnect with your natural creativity. You will return home with something you created, and the tools to keep your creative juices flowing!

All materials will be provided, and I will always be on hand to guide you through this process.

I will also be teaching the benefits of Colour Therapy more indepth (I do an introductory workshop on The Self Love Retreat).  I healed myself from Seasonal Affective Disorder (a form of depression caused by lack of natural sunlight) with the colours in my paintings.  You will return home with something you’ve created using colours that will help you on your own Self-healing journey!

Leading up to the Retreat, I’ll give you two easy exercises that will help prepare you; your Morning Pages, and your weekly ‘Artist’s Dates‘.  These will help you begin the process of nurturing your inner child! They are based on the book that helped me to unblock, ‘The Artist’s Way’ by Julia Cameron.

The Nurture Your Inner Child Retreat will held at my newly built 6 bed Retreat Home in Gunjur, which is 10 mins walk to the beach.
