The Black Butterfly Effect

‘The Black Butterfly Effect’ is a process of transforming your MIND, in order to transform your LIFE!

Black Butterfly Original

When I painted ‘Black Butterfly’ in 2009, I had just started learning how to meditate in order to control my negative thinking patterns (I was in a deep state of meditation when I painted it!).  I was also studying Universal Laws; that your thoughts go out into the universe and leave an impression.  The more you have the same thought, the deeper the impression becomes.  These thoughts are eventually reflected back to you as your life (good or bad).

As a result of learning this, I began to really focus on managing my thoughts, and what I wanted to create (as opposed to what I didn’t want).

I wrote my poem ‘The Black Butterfly Effect’ in 2012 while going through a ‘Mind Fast’.  The poem uses the imagery of a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly, to explain the process of transforming your mind:

First, you must protect your subconscious mind from all negative influences that do not support your vision; then you must ‘go within’ and get clear about what you want to create.  As you’re going through this process you’ll find it difficult, because your mind and body are used to doing things a different way.  But the more you practice your new way of thinking, your mind and body will eventually catch up!

In January I completed The 30 Day Mind Detox in which I ‘cocooned’ myself from the outside world and focused on going within and getting really clear on what I wanted to achieve this year, and the years ahead.  Once I was clear, I created a Vision Board based upon my set intentions.  Already, things have started to MANifest!  I will share more about this later on this year, but for now, if you’d like to start the process of transforming your mind, begin by reading my Self-help novel ‘Journey of a Sister’ (for brothers too!).  The main character goes through a complete transformation; of her mind, her relationship, and her Self-identity.

I’ve used the Adinkra symbol ‘Sesa wo Suban’ throughout the book, as it is the symbol of transformation:
